Benefits/Results of Coaching

Some of the benefits I've seen with my clients are action, forward momentum, clarity, awareness, better relationships, achieving goals, increasing income/ business success, finding a better job or life situation, and increased confidence and leadership skills.  The list goes on.  My particular favorites are less drama or stress, and finding their voice and learning to express it with improved interpersonal relationships.
Some results are difficult to measure, like having a better understanding of the little gremlins or limiting beliefs that hold us back, or finally understanding why your life partner or boss is driven to do things the way they do.

“Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles. Consistent with a commitment to enhancing their personal effectiveness, they can also expect to see appreciable results in the areas of productivity, personal satisfaction with life and work, and the achievement of personally relevant goals.”  See ICF-CT.org

Specific Examples

Operations Director, new to the role, was able to identify her strengths and Achilles heels, developed new awareness of her personality and leadership styles, as well as ways to communicate with her team and her boss in a much more successful way.  Her level of stress on the job and at home diminished greatly and her confidence grew tremendously, with much more clarity for her future.

This also provided insight into her marketing plan and the way she speaks with potential clients and team members.

Some of the Personal Goals that my clients have achieved include everything from decluttering the house, to losing weight, to spending quality time with family and paying off credit card debt.

If you made a list of every goal you have put off committing to, I'm sure you'd find a few key goals that would be thrilling to say you've not only set them in motion, you've achieved them. Let me help you start that process!

FAQ

Who hires a coach?

People from all walks of life hire a coach to work through issues and get results.  They might feel stuck or frustrated. They might have particular goals that are eluding them.  They may be going through a big life transition and want an impartial person to talk to who doesn't make them feel wrong or like they are broken and need fixing.

Business owners want to see a return on their investment in actual improvements in profits or work environment.  Personal clients want to FEEL the difference in their stress, their confidence, and their life outlook.  I've seen all of the above with my clients over the last 5+ years.

Do you do more personal or business coaching?

Most coaching clients want some combination of both; especially when personal issues  (emotions, drama, feelings of confusion or inadequacy) affect their business.   We all know it's difficult to separate our personal and business lives into nice neat boxes.  I have the training to cover both, which means you can bring to your coaching calls any and all parts of your life that you need to hash out in the moment, I'm comfortable with it all.  "I want to increase my profits and streamline my work systems" or "The drama and stress in my life is going to put me in the hospital!" or "I'd like to become more of a leader in my organization."

What is life or business coaching?

Coaching is a very personal process to raise awareness and achieve success in whatever areas of life that are concerning you: life, business, and/or relationships. In a one-on-one setting, it is like designing your own self-help book with the author at your side to help you with the tricky inner work; gaining clarity, new perspectives, positive inner dialogue, accountability, vision, and commitment. This is what propels successful action.
For any kind of coaching- individual, partnerships, or teams, the process begins with a free consultation to determine if coach and client are a good fit.  Once committed to coaching, we work to identify key goals that are important for you and/or your team, explore what is working and not working, reveal the obstacles and Achilles heels that get in the way, identify "what is trying to happen", and then set out a vision and plan of action to create the life and business that is desired.  It is an ongoing learning experience, grounded in action and moving forward with empowered and mindful choices.

The client is always the expert on themselves.  The coach is an expert in bringing about new awareness, learning and action through a series of powerful questions and various tools or processes that help the client achieve their goals.  They work together as equal partners on this journey.

What do you do in a typical coaching session?

After the first Discovery Session, most ensuing coaching sessions start with a check-in or "a win" and quickly transition to a focused topic for coaching.  Sometimes we start with celebrating or venting, sometimes we analyze or brainstorm, other times we plan or visualize- what ever is needed at the time.  Most sessions end with new awareness and targeted actions to which I'll ask, "What will you do, when, and how will I know it's complete."  I encourage email or texting to check in between sessions if there are accomplishments to report or things to celebrate.

What are the benefits of coaching?

Some of the benefits I've seen with my clients are action, forward momentum, clarity, awareness, better relationships, achieving goals, increasing income/ business success, finding a better job or life situation, and increased confidence and leadership skills.  The list goes on.  My particular favorites are less drama or stress, and finding their voice and learning to express it with improved interpersonal relationships.

Where are you located?

I have coached clients from California to Istanbul, Turkey; there is no geographic boundary.  That said, I live in Shelton, CT, about 90 min northeast of NYC and an hour from Hartford.  Most of my clients coach with me over the phone, though I see local clients in my home office and I've also worked with clients via Skype.

I travel to in-person programs for businesses or organizations, and will negotiate for actual travel costs if over 30 miles.

How can you accomplish a real connection when coaching over the phone?

You'd be surprised at how much more intimate a phone call can be- with no superficial or visual distractions. We take the 40-60 minutes and focus in on what ever topic is important to you in that moment.  I am trained to listen to many subtle clues in my clients- excitement or disappointment, frustration or passion.  With couples or groups, I train them to report to me what is going on at their end, "We're smiling" or "There are nods of agreement" which in turn raises their awareness of the signals going on every day.

The benefits of no travel time for my clients and the ease of fitting in sessions morning, lunchtime or after work allows for this most important priority to become a reality.  It also facilitates coaching for families or teams who are scattered geographically.

What are your fees?

My fees vary depending on the program you choose, length of commitment, and amount of additional time required for preparation or personalization.
One-time events and classes vary depending on the circumstances.
Group coaching calls can be as little as $35 per call.
Individual coaching starts at $125 per hour.
Shorter programs and presentations begin at $150.
Group Workshops begin at $500 and can be designed to fit your needs. Minimum 2 hours.
For Peoplemap programs there is a materials fee ranging from $20-$75pp.

What kind of commitment do you require for coaching?

For traditional coaching I ask for an initial three month commitment, including an in-depth discovery session and Peoplemap assessment. Many of my clients have worked with me 6 months to a year or more.  I have also had clients who take a break for a while and come back when they have new challenges or transitions to work on.

Also available are 2-hour intensive coaching sessions with a goal of quickly achieving certain goals or to get a quick start.  The minimum for such arrangements are 3 sessions totally 6 hours.

What is the difference between a coach and a consultant?

A coach is someone who will help you explore what you want, figure out what is working and not working for you, brainstorm possibilities, and support you in your decisions; acting as your guide, confidant, and accountability partner to achieve your goals.  Advice is not given unless asked for, that is not the role of the coach.  The client is the expert on themselves and the coach is an expert at helping you get results.

A consultant comes with a certain area of expertise and gives advice or training to the client.  (My particular area of expertise is in organization and relationship systems development, with additional training to empower my clients away from stress and drama and toward creating outcomes.)

What kind of arrangements do you make for consulting, workshops, or team coaching?

Each situation is different.  Please call for a free consultation. We'll talk about what you need and then a proposal will be given.

If you have any additional questions please go to my contact page and write to me.  I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.  Better yet, schedule a free consultation with no strings attached.  Call 203-209-5462 or email me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
